Six New Justices Installed

Jakarta | badilag.net/english (7/4/10) - Chief Justice Harifin A. Tumpa inaugurated six new Supreme Court Justices on Wednesday (7/4) in Jakarta. With these new justices, the Supreme Court now has 49 justices and is highly hoped to reduce the number of case log and accelerate case settlements in the Court.

Chief justice hoped that justices could provide better examples for other judges and court officers. Justices were also told to avoid meeting the parties whose cases were being examined by the Court.

A number of high state officials in attendance were Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Chairman of Judicial Commission, Representative from Corruption Eradication Commission, National Police, and Attorney General.

Here are the new justices: 1. Dr. Salman Luthan, SH, MH, 2. Soltoni Mohdally, SH, MH, 3. H. Yulius, SH, 4. Dr. H. Supandi, SH, MHum, 5. Prof. Dr. Surya Jaya, SH, MHum and 6. H. Achmad Yamanie, SH, MH.
