TEMPO Interactive, Jepara - The number of divorce cases in Jepara is quite high, with the most number being divorce cases filed by the wives. Last year, for instance, of all 1.305 files submitted to the Jepara Religious Court, 964 were submitted by the wives. “The request for polygamy was low, only seven requests,” said the Court deputy, Wahid Abidin, on Saturday.
Reasons given for the request for polygamy were that the wives could not bear any child, the wives’ health condition, and their inability in meeting the husbands’ demands. Meanwhile, divorces were asked due to economic, moral, education, and low religious knowledge factors.
