Universities Urged to Monitor Religious Courts’ Services

Director General of Badilag, Wahyu Widiana, urged universities to observe the services provided by Religious Courts across Indonesia. This, according to Wahyu, is important for the courts to improve their services for the public.

“We welcome university students to monitor all services provided at Religious Courts. We’ll also be very happy if students from any universities hold their final assigments such as Kuliah Kerja Sosial (Practical and Social Lecture) at the courts. The students can observe and monitor the services there,” Wahyu Widiana said when giving a public lecture at IAIN (The State Institute for Islamic Studies) Sumatera Utara, Medan, last Friday (24/12).

The lecture was followed by some 80 participants and was attended by the Rector, the Dean of Syariah Faculty, professors, lecturers, Chief Judges of PTA Medan and several Chief Judges.

The Director General always tries to gather inputs and suggestions from all elements of society to improve the quality of Religious Courts’ services. He said that a national-scale survey on clients’ satisfaction was conducted during 2007-2009. This is all for the betterment of services.

“I know Badilag has done a number of significant efforts to enhance the quality of services at Religious Courts all over the country. But, in the field, many justice seekers still feel unhappy with the services,” Dr. Nursiah, a graduate from Mc.Gill University Canada, commented on a session.

Wahyu Widiana responded positively to the comment. “I’m glad to receive frank criticism from univeristies and other elements of public. If you are unhappy with the courts’ services, I suggest you to report to the Chief Judge PA, Chief Judge of PTA, or directly to Badilag. We will immediately respond your complaints,” Wahyu said. (c)
